what's the variation amongst canon ELPH digital cameras and canon A-Series digital cameras?

I want to get a canon, but I don't fully grasp the variations in between these two series of canon cameras.

Do the canon digital cameras do a beauty shot (make your face search flawless and quite) form factor like the samsung cameras do?
